Ageing could start as early as at thirty and is almost completely influenced by external factors like smoking, UV exposure, pollution, stress and sleep deprivation. Internal physiological and genetic factors only account for ten percent and come into force at the age of sixty.
I have already discussed the effects of UV exposure and how to prevent/mitigate any damage caused by it. Please refer to my article (Screen your sunscreen) published previously.
Equally damaging is smoking as it is strongly associated with spider veins (telangiectasia), accumulation of abnormal elastin in dermis (elastosis) and facial wrinkling. Nicotine in tobacco damages elastin and collagen, which are the support system of the skin, and accelerates appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Other side effects include pigmentation of gums (gingival pigmentation), discoloration of eyes and teeth, hyper-pigmentation of lips, thinning of hair and occurrence of bags around the eyes.

Better late than never! The damage can be reversed through early cessation of smoking and with the help of cosmetic treatments using fractional lasers, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin and various potent anti-ageing serums.
Quit smoking to live longer and look younger!
