Chapped-LipsLips skin is four times thinner than facial skin and is the most delicate and sensitive. It lacks protection through hair and sweat glands and is most vulnerable in dry winter season.

Perfect lip care – Use lip balms containing shea or coco butter, petrolatum, bees wax, almond oil regularly. Balms containing phenol are great at exfoliating dry flakes but are ineffective in hydrating. Minimum SPF of 15 is necessary as sunrays exaggerate drying and flaking. Gently exfoliate lips once fortnightly using wash-cloths or rough tissues.

Increase water intake. In winter, we tend to drink less water. Drink minimum eight glasses of water at regular intervals.

No licking your lips! It gives temporary relief but digestive enzymes in saliva accelerate drying. Avoid mouth breathing.

Know your product composition. Lipsticks, lip oils or toothpastes containing phenyl salicylate or propyl gallate have potential to cause allergies. Peppermint oil causes dryness and flaking.
